Wall rebuild (planning permission required)?

Hi
The brick wall outside the front of my house is in dire need of repair, falling apart due to frost. Will I require planning permission to rebuild it?
It joins a footpath and mainroad if that changes things?

I wouldn't have thought so, provided you aren't living in a conservation area and you follow the original line of the wall. You can always phone the local planning department and ask, they are usually more than happy to answer these types of questions.
Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

want to build the wall exactly the same just in brick that matches the neighbours wall0

Probably not but Building Control may be required to be informed. They may want to check the existing footings and/or require piers to be built. Things may well have changed since the original wall was built. As above, contact planning dept and building control for advice.0

I hope that PP is not required, as I am in the process of some serious repairs to my 75ft long front wall. It has deteriorated badly due to frost damage, especially the vertical bricks on the top. It never occurred to me to ask as, I am only replacing damaged bricks with new ones. Albeit a different colour. As I am on the main road, no doubt some jobsworth will be along shortly to poke their nose in. A friend of mine who is just about rebuild his side wall is being charged £150 by the Planners, but he is actually changing the design as well.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
Its a repair , don't tell anyone, don't ask permission , just get on with it .0

You don't need planning permission to maintain (ie rebuild) a wall.
Nor do you need building regulation approval0
