Selling links on ebay

Hey folks

A quick question - does anyone know the official Ebay policy on selling links that are freely available on the web anyway?

Also, I'm looking for examples of these listings so if anyone has come accross any auctions selling links, I'd be really grateful if you could post a link.

Thanks :)

    Links Policy

    eBay allows sellers to place only certain types of links within an item description. (See the Links Frequently Asked Questions for the definition of a link.) Links that are allowed are listed below; sellers should review the specific links policy to ensure any links included in the listing adhere to the policies outlined.

    One link to a page that further describes the item being sold in that listing

    One link to your email address that opens an email client for potential buyers to ask questions about the item in that listing

    Links to photos of the item for sale

    Links to your eBay (including your eBay Shop)

    Links to your About Me page (in addition to the About Me icon already provided by eBay)

    Links that provide credits to third parties

    One link to your listing terms and conditions (providing that the most relevant information is within the listing itself and that this page does not include any links off of the eBay Web site)

    Breaches of this policy may result in a range of actions, including:

    Listing cancellation

    Limits on account privileges

    Account suspension

    Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings

    Loss of PowerSeller status

    There is a very grey area on paying for intangible goods.

    One thing I know is that you're not allowed to put links in an inappropriate category, eg. auction a link to get a playstation in the 'playstation' category.

    Also, you're not covered by ebay's standard purchase protection:

    eBay Standard Purchase Protection Programme
    .....
    Non-eligible transactions

    * Items which are not significantly different from the item description.
    * Items paid for with cash or instant money transfer services such as Western Union or MoneyGram.
    * Items where a PayPal claim has been paid. If you paid for your eBay transaction with PayPal, you'll need to go through PayPal's Buyer Complaint Process.
    * Items damaged or lost in transit.
    * Merchandise that has been altered, repaired, discarded or resold.
    * Items which are picked up or delivered in person.
    * Intangible items.
    * Double or overpayment.
    * Postage and packing fees.
    * Escrow fees.
    * Buyer's remorse.

    It says you're not covered, but I don't think there are any specific rules about not selling links, as long as you don't falsely represent the item by mis-categorising it.

    This is the page that deals with prohibited items:

    http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/items-ov.html

    Since selling a link to a catalogue is not allowed, see here:

    http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/listing-catalog.html

    that might mean general links to get money off items etc *might* be disallowed as you are selling a URL from which a customer may purchase something else.

    Also specifically disallowed are links to mailing lists or MLM schemes.

    Under potentailly infringing copyright there are other exclusions which may affect the selling of links.

    Apart from that I don't think that ebay specifically disallow the selling of links, even where that info is otherwise freely available, unless the links are designed to scam or are listed incorrectly.
