Family holiday to Egypt in August?

A friend of mine wants to take her family to Egypt and hopes to get a good last minute deal. My question is, which part of Egypt would be better for her? She has three children aged 16, 8 and 1 and a half years.
Any advice?
Many thanks.

It depends on what sort of things the family wants out of there holiday, ie. trips, activities.
I know sharm is more liveley than Hurghada/Taba0 -
I was advised Egypt isn't for children and in August its very very hot. I think the 16 year old and the 8 year old will be fine. Also the kerbs are pretty high (they drive like mad people over there) so pushing a buggy may be hard.
Saying that there were families in the hotel we stayed in last year who seemed to manage fine. Just find whats best for you.Barclaycard 3800

If you're thinking of going to Egypt in August you would be best to go to one of the meditteranean resorts, perhap Alexandria. These will be cooler than Cairo or Luxor which are exeptionally hot at this time of the year.
Sharm el Sheik may also be favourable. However, you should be aware of the current situation between Lebanon and Israel. Sharm is in the Sinai peninsula and therefore not comfortably far from the conflict.0 -
Thanks for your replies, I will let my friend know. She just wants a relaxing family holiday which isnt too far away from the UK (travel time) and yet has nice luxurious hotels at a reasonable price.
Can anyone suggest somewhere else other than Egypt if its not particularly safe to travel there right now?
Thanks again.0 -
