When to send item?

Hi, I am new to selling so sorry if this has been asked before.

I sold an item yesterday and buyer paid immediately. I checked paypal and it says balance pending so just thought i would wait. However further down I clicked on details tab and it came up in green OK to send.

Do I send item or wait for the pending to clear?

Have they paid by E-cheque?(can take up to 9 days to clear). Have you received payments before in your paypal account? (When it's your first ever received payment it may show as pending.)

As you are a new seller it could well be the 21 day hold. paypal will have stated this in an email to you, so check your spam filter in case the email is in there.

If this is the 21 day hold then the payment will show as received but on hold, it will be released to you after the buyer leaves positive feedback or after 21 days.

If you can't find mention of the 21 day hold then phone paypal and ask them.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I have received payment before. Last week someone paid immediately and in about half an hour i could transfer the funds to my bank account. I told them i would send on Saturday if the funds clear.

No they did not believe they paid by E-cheque . Should i wait?

Does your PP balance include the pending amount? How much is it for? Check your emails - if it's not OK to send PP should send you an email telling you not to send 'til it's cleared.

Yes, PP balance is what she paid for the item. Just says balance pending then amount.

I clicked on the detail tab and it say OK to send with a green tick

Below that it reads

"The money from the payment you received is being held temporarily for up to 20 days. During this time the money will show as pending and you won't be able to access it.
Your funds will be released after 20 days, providing your buyer hasn't reported any problems. We may be able to release the money sooner if we can confirm that the item was delivered or, if this is an eBay item, your buyer leaves you positive feedback".

Right so it is the 21 day hold. In that case the quicker you send the goods the quicker you'll get your money.

Why is it on 21 day hold? Is this standard?

Does it mean the money will stay pending until the buyer receives it? How did they do that?

It is very normal in some categories for new sellers to have payments held.Just send the item and hope the buyer leaves feedbakc promptly. If not just phone paypal after 21 days and they will release the money. Until the buyer leaves feedback or 21 days the money will stay pending.

It could be worse, from April all payments for new sellers will be held.

I just contacted PP and they said the same thing. If i had known i would have shipped today. Oh well.

PP said it was to do with high risk items. I hope she leaves feedback. I know some people don't bother. I will get a tracking number also.
