Don't feel bad it's frustrating when people have irrational fears.
Had he considered hypnotherapy or something? that often has brilliant effects?

  • Id like him to try something like that. When we get the wedding booked ill try and price it and see where does it. The problem is our income isnt very stable and i dont think its cheap. He keeps saying he wants knocked out but they wont allow that. My aunt had severe claustrophobia and had to take valium before flying so there must be somthing which could calm him down.
  • oh just noticed your getting married on his birthday!

The doctor might be able to refer him if it was severe enough to ruin your honeymoon thus effecting your relationship.
That means you'll always remember my anniversary!!! ;-)

  • lol welll i may have changed my mind AGAIN!!!!!

to be honest it just doesnt seem practical to get married so far away and up we windy roads. If we put on a bus its a lot of money and most of my family wont make it til 1am and so would need to pay for parents and grandparents to stay in the hotel that night. Also there doesnt seem to be anywhere around that i could get married and dont want to have the ceremony in a hotel. So on the way back yesterday my mum took us into a couple of hotels and stuff and well kinda feel in love with the museam in hamilton. Its historic but has a roof unlike castles and is local and soo beautiful. It has a nice garden with a gazebo thing so would be good for pictures and i think it used to be part of hamilton palace (knocked down over fears it would fall down)

The hotel is nice but its really dark and the location puts me of. We wouldnt have any evening guests bacause of the location and im not sure about the party atmosphere at a smaller wedding.

So were thinking the museam for the ceremony and pictures then up to carrigans which is a local restaurant which is also where we got engaged and had very nice simple food. Its got a seperate function room with its own bar, is much cheaper for the meals and doesnt cost to hire the hall and means we could invite evening guests at only the cost of the buffet. My parents and sister were at a wedding there a few months ago and she said its the best food shes ever had at the evening and were going to an evening do there in June.

The problem comes at the cost but when we add up how much tinto would cost and add the bus and the hotel rooms in and compare that to a local wedding with more people at night were only looking at a couple of hundred pounds difference so were leaning toward having it in hamilton. Its also means we can go and see things which would be a problem in Tinto and theres the we link with the engagement.

However, we are going to price other places for the reception but i think this is whats happening so far lol. Sorry its a bit long and i aplogise for the spelling but this is the way im thinking just now.

For the people who helped with the bus thanks and ill prob still put one on but its only about a mile from the two places so it will be much cheaper.

Well even though you didn't go for the first option, it's still a result. If you think you have found somewhere that's good going :-)
Does sound much more sensible having it nearer home. And you don't have to have the bus - I'm guessing people may have to drive to the bus anyway, I always wonder how that would work?
You sound much more sure and positive about this idea... Soon you'll be setting a date!!!! Hurrah.

  • i do feel more positive about this thanks, not sure how transport will work but well sort that out later.

lol yea a date..... im thinking more 2012 now because ill be in my last year of my degree next year with my major project to do and a 10 week placement (doing primary teaching) so i dont think worrying about an exam would be the best thing. I am getting more excited about it now and apart from being mrs carr (not a good name for a teacher) the only thing thats pulling me down is i have a friend at uni who will be getting married about the same time and she doesnt seem to be talking to be now because of the wedding thing, epec when i said i might be getting married nect year which would make it before hers. I dont care what she thinks anymore because it looks like shes not a real friend but i feel like i cant be excited about it or talk about it as much round my uni friends to stop an argument breaking out.

This girl is having the big expensive wedding 5 grand for the venue alone! and it seems to be more about the money for her. Thats not what weddings are for!
