Keyboard letters coming off

Hi
Had my PC for 18 months , the keyboard letters are coming off, contacted John Lewis where I bought it from, they said they have to send it back to Acer for repair which could take 2 weeks!
Do you think this is my only option, because I would go mad having no PC for a day let alone 2 weeks?
The warranty with both companies is 2 years.

It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical0

when you say "pc" are you talking about a laptop or a desktop? surely, if it's a desktop, they'd just send a replacement keyboard out?
as reggie rebel says, you can buy a cheapo keyboard, but make sure it fits your pc (i.e. does it need a PS2 port or USB)0 -
Do you mean the keys themselves are coming off, or just the labels are rubbing off. If it's the latter, see it as a way to improve your touch typing skills0

I assume it is a laptop ? You need to keep your hands clean when using them, grease dissolves the print on keys.0

I think we'll assume it's a laptop and in any case JL are entitled to offer you a repair at this stage, regardless of any warranty, as long as it doesn't cause a significant inconveniance to you. You may think you might not be able to live without it for a day but I'd imagine most courts would find a 2-3 weeks reasonable for repair turnaround.0

So... was it the letters rubbing off, the keys falling off, a separate keyboard or part of a laptop?0

Learn to touch type.
BITD, amongst certain Linuxy types, you were considered to be a bit of a gaylord if any symbols were visible on your keyboard and they would spray paint over them.0 -
You aren't the only one with computer issues. Wait your turn. In the meantime, read a book or something.0
