Sorry - got IPA now. Been reading a lot more on it but there is a lot to take in - have e-mailed my local CAB to try and get in to see someone about it. My main concern may just be a silly one but to manage on our income we have to juggle money around the three accounts we have - between me and my wife with the Co-op bank. We we transfer money to and from each account as the benefits we receive are spread between my wife as carer and myself but I am worried with bancruptcy we will have no access to these accounts and therefore no day to day living expenses until the receiver says so.
What can I do as this is now starting to worry me the more that I think about it.

You should open a basic bank account and have all your income and outgoings through that. It has to be a basic bank account though ie not credit/debit card or overdraft. The OR will allow you that but any other accounts will be frozen so it's best to get it sorted prior to going BR.

Thats great - so at least I can get the benefits paid in and take money out for shopping etc - would I still be able to have my direct debits changed to come out of this account?
By the way thank you everyone for your continued help and advice!

Thanks sizzler -I am already with the coop with current and smartsaver accounts so can just open the cashminder account if it is a basic bank account - At least thats what i think it is.
Hope coop agree to let me have an account if I'm declared BR anyway as I have probably peed them off anyway with a complaint to the FOS about bank charges for a hardship case - I wrote to them on this by recorded delivery three times - all letters received but noT one reply until I received a general letter about the supreme court bank charges judgement.
I thought it was gloating a bit - rather "un-ethical" for the 'ethical bank'!

By the way every outgoing and direct debits have been trimmed to the lowest they can go - all service and utility providers changed to the lowest cost.
Not much else I can do now.
