Baggage on BMI Baby flights

Travelling as a family of four this weekend to Majorca. Usually take three cases between us, two of which are in excess of 25kgs and one small plus hand luggage. Can the cases be combined to give an average weight across the four of us as we are all full paying passengers? The BMI site says allowance is per person and can not be combined. Has anyone experience of this?

Looks like the site has answered your question.
Not got time to check for you myself but the flights I have booked for Nov.
    is:

    baggage allowances per passenger
checked baggage two (2) pieces of baggage with a combined weight of up to 20kgs hand baggage one (1) piece weighing up to 7kgs (no larger than 55cm x 40cm x 20cm in size) and a laptop computer excess baggage will be charged at a standard rate of £5 (€8) per kg additional baggage bulky equipment including golf clubs, skis, bikes, wind surfs etc will be charged at £15 (€24) per sector, per item. These items will be carried subject to space availability on the aircraft. Please note bikes will only be accepted if suitably packaged. All baggage allowances are personal and cannot be combined, and the maximum weight of any one item of baggage is 32kg. Under no circumstances will bmibaby carry firearms either on board or as checked baggage.
  • I read the same t's & c's but wondered if this is carried out to the letter as noticed a similar thread on here about another airline who in practise let you combine your allowance.

who in practise let you combine your allowance

    I think that's slightly different.
The policy of Air South West (if that's what you are referring to) is to allow you to combine not just something they do "in practice".

BMI clearly state that: "All baggage allowances are personal and cannot be combined".

Personally I wouldn't want to take a chance that they'll let you get away with it but I guess that's down to how you feel about the extra charges EACH way.

The low cost airlines do a great job and offer bargain fares as long as you read their T&C`s thoroughly, and stick to them.
None of them will miss an opportunity to get extra money out of you if you stray from their terms.
Read them and read them again and stick strickly to them.

Utilise the bathroom scales at home before you leave home and sort it out. Saves a kerfuffle at the airport.

    Hi,
Just got back from yet another 2 weeks in Benidorm, (I know, I know, but my 2 teenagers are addicted to Terra-Mitica)

We flew BMI Baby from Cardiff to Alicante with 3 cases between 4 (2 adults / 2 teenagers) One of the cases was 30kilos, one was 27kilos and one 24kilos. Nothing was said at all, they just put a "Heavy" sticker on the 30kilo one.

Had 3 cases and 2 holdalls on the way back, 2 cases @27kilos, but the other three were only 15, 10 & 6. Once again nothing was said.

Not sure if this is of any use to you unless you are flying from Cardiff.

    Hi!
My husband and I travel from Durham Tees Valley to Alicante and back about six times a year, mostly using BMI Baby. We have never been pulled up about combining weight-luckily for me, as I usually have twice as much as OH. Be careful, though, that you are not overweight on the combined total. They are very strict about charging for excess baggage i.e. more than 40 kilos hold luggage per couple. Also, they are a bit fussy about the size of hand luggage, and have occasionally weighed hand luggage to make sure it is not too heavy.
    Enjoy your holiday!

I have had experiences of all kinds.

Very cheerful staff who let you through with extra.
Staff that couldn't care less that can't be bothered to even look.
Jobs worth staff who are very picky.

Point is you never know which you are going to get.

It also proabably depends on whether the aircraft is half empty or packed to the gills. When it's packed I suspect the checkin staff ar briefed to be more picky.

Personally I can't see the point in taking the chance unless you are fully prepared to pay the extra costs.
To be honest you have to question the logic of this because you would probably be better off buying heavy item (toiletries) when you are abroad.
Unless you are going to the desert then almost all hotels sell shamppo and sun cream etc.
