PPI Step 1 - Advice Needed

We have a few loans and credit cards, all of which have PPI on them so we have decided to try and claim these charges back. We have written to all our creditors and have asked for details of the PPI charges and used the template letter from this website.

We have received a response from Royal Bank of Scotland saying they are happy to provide this information but charge a £10 fee for this request. Is this normal? This particular loan was a hire purchase agreement for our car and I am sure we were told that PPI was not optional at the time.

Do I just send them a cheque?

Any advice welcome. Many thanks.

    Hi there and welcome
I think they can just charge £10 for statement, but if you send them a letter called a Subject Access Request (SAR) they must send ALL they hold on you going back 5/6 years, sometimes they even send documentation going back longer.
There is a proper SAR letter template you can use to make sure they enclose all the documentation as shown on the SAR letter as possible, you enclose £10 cheque payment or postal order, and they have 40 days to comply.
I would post get proof for posting and keep an eye on the 40 days they have to send these to you.
    SAR letter template here:

    Hope this helps.

Good luck and please keep us posted.;)
