Morning All...
I have been asked last night to be a best man for a good friend...very pleased BUT organising the stag do is already worrying me....
A)I dont have a pool of cash to pay for people in advance and for them to then pay me..
B)He wants to go to the seaside for 2 nights somewhere we live farther away from water than anywhere in england so its a rare treat for us ! and i dont even know where to start.....there will be about 12 of us
C)We are all mid 30`s so somewhere reasonably easy going , so no Blackpool or the like..
D) Weekend of the 7th August this year !
E) I am getting married myself before then so mind is full up as it is !
Any help or advise welcome !!
Cheers

My OH is arranging his brother stag do.
They asked everyone to pay £50 deposit to confirm they were coming, that paid for deposits at hotel/activitie centres. Everyone is paying £50/month for 3 further months, to help spread the cost. Once all the money is in they can pay for everything in full.:jProud mummy to a beautiful baby girl born 22/12/11 :j0 -
good idea , thats my first plan , to find out who is definatly up for it and then take a deposit from them...thing with that is if people drag their feet hotel rooms etc can go quick.....specially by the sea....!0

Look at off season for your seaside break and maybe consider Bournemouth, Swanage (plenty of pubs) or Poole. They have great watersports opportunities and I know that at Shell Bay, nr Poole that there is a watersports centre.
You could consider bunkhouse accommodation - I have used Morfa Bay Outdoor Centre in Pembrokeshire in the past - they're reasonable and you can go coasteering, kayaking, canyoning and all sorts of stuff like that and you will have instructors with you so its safe. The bunkhouses are comfortable too. The group that I took there were all in their 30's.
Certainly ask for a £50 deposit in advance from folks as that will give you some money to play with.
Hope this helps.Semper in faeces profundum variat

Even if you just get some ideas of what you want and we try to MSE it together for you.Bump due 22nd September0 -
maybe go for renting a large house, will work out cheaper then a hotel in most instances, plus you can all congregate together, which you cant do so easily in a hotel room, which is why i never understand why people book hotels for this sort of event (but maybe thats just me)
Holiday rental and holiday lettings will have lots of properties available, only problem is your in peak school holiday season.Debt free since July 2013! Woo hoo! The bank actually laughed when I said I have come in to cancel my overdraft.0 -
If you're going to try renting a house like Hellokitty suggests look on gumtree, there is a short let section where people advertise holiday homes0

keep it simple- went on a paintball day with some mates, with a themed restaurant meal later,, with a couple hours pubbing in between!:beer:Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..

Maybe look at caravans too - to keep the cost down, but beware that a LOT of people will not allow all male/female parties to book, so just check the T&C's before you book.
Not sure where you are based, but lots of fairly cheap places in South Devon (e.g. Paignton/Torquay) or maybe Bournemouth/weymouth.
I am agreeing with the activity type day, then a themed restaurant (tgi's/frankie & benny's type thing - tell them it is a big celebration and they might do you special deals!!!) maybe you could tie in with a sporting event or something too? football/rugby/horse/dog racing? Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??:mad:Debt Free as of September 2011 :jSealed Pot 2009 number 334 - £100 Saved! yey!!Sealed Pot 2010 number 334 - £116.51 Saved! to be honest where you all live will have an impact on where you should go, for example I live in the south east and within an hour to two hours drive are a lot of nice places that I reckon a group of guys of your age would enjoy; Brighton, bournemouth, the kent coast. In fact devon/cornwall if you wanted a longer journey would be great for surfing and watersports. Maybe if you tell us your location (just a rough idea) we could help with possible seaside locations a little easier. I like the idea of 'theming' it though as others have suggested. I hope we can all help you with ideas though!! Oh and congrats and good luck for your wedding too!!Joined Slimming World 19th May 2009
