Paypal check-need to know if safe

When I logged into my Paypal account, I found they want to make some security checks as I have earned over a certain amount. Funny that, a business making money. Anyway, they are asking me to add a debit or credit card (I already have my bank account logged with them). As I earn other incomes from other sources, I direct them to paypal as I earn music/photo royalties overseas.
Anyone advise me what to do ?

I got that one to today.
Tried to pay with paypal for my ebay purchase, couldn't....called ebay said they are having problems etc, tried to log into my paypal account anyway and got the same message.
I'm not putting those details in, until I've been able to pay ebay then look at my account.
Seems very odd to me0 -
There is a requirement to go through additional checks once you turn over a certain amount, I'm surprised paypal weren't aware of their own rules.
Yes you need to provide additional info and add a card otherwise your account will be frozen.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. i had a similar experience just a few days ago when i logged in.
the msg said something around due to security checks and money laundering laws they asked me to reconfirm my bank account details and deposited two further amounts!
they said i exceeded the limit, i did this as i had bit of a clear out and raised about a grand in a few weeks!
ive reconfirmed my bank account and restored my paypal account but im weary now of using it again in case i start to get taxed or something?!! will i??0 -

Paypal can't tax you as they pay no interest so there is nothing for them to withold tax on. If you are a private seller selling your own stuff then it doesn't matter what sort of verified account you have you are not required to inform HMRC and pay tax. The moment though you buy one item to sell on you are trading, and then you will need to inform HMRC.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
