Hiya
If you had a big cheque sent to you( and it isn't me lol i wish)and you wanted to give it to charity how would you go about it do you just give them the cheque or would you have to do anything else before giving it to them? , also would they give you any proof to say you gave it to them?
Thank you.

Cheques are crossed nowadays so the days of endorsing them on the back are gone.
You (they) need to bank the cheque and then either write them another one out or get their bank details and make an electronic payment.
You could ask for a receipt as proof of payment but the proof would be on your bank statement with the money going over anyway.
I can send you my bank details if you like.:D

If the donor is a UK taxpayer, suggest she asks for a Gift Aid form or makes a declaration that she wishes to Gift Aid.
You can give online to many charities as well if you are so inclined.Signature removed for peace of mind0
