Are they actualy flowering (white open flowers) or have the flower buds started forming? if the latter, get them outside ASAP (tonight).
If the former, go back and insist on swapping them for those with buds only. These supermarkets are useless at keeping hardy plants cool enough. i saw a Bramley apple tree in full flower two weeks ago. Should flower in mid May!If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
I must say i also saw some with flowers on when i got mine but something clicked in my brain somewhere from reading a post on here not to buy those, but others looked good.
I'm feeling a bit sorry for mine since i bought them yesterday, there introduction on to my decking in the container yesterday was a windy day & today a raining & dull day, bet they wish they where back in warm Lidl!0 -
My strawberry plants lasted all winter outside with no protection at all. I thought they would have died when they had all that snow lay on them!
Yes, the same here, we have over 30 strawbs in the ground and they all survived the winter.
Looking forward to a bumper crop this year :j0 -
I was going to buy the Lidl ones, but then I noticed an offer in the Daily Mail today to collect 6 free strawberry plants from Homebase. I went down today and my husband and I got one each as it says one per customer.
The paper cost 80p and the plants look really healthy. The voucher is valid today and tomorrow.0 -
I got some strawberry plants from Wilkos which are doing well indoors, but thinking ahead to planting them outside soon - can you plant them in grobags or is it not a good idea? Thanks.0

then this morning the DAILY MAIL OFFER!!!!
I buy this paper daily anyway!!!!grrrr!.
P.s When i reasoned with myself the bus would of cost me £2 to get to Homebase & i would of had to have trailed my 4yr old in the rain then they may have gone, i don't drive & OH who does is out all day.
You win some you loose some, may send him tomorrow with voucher, if theres any left & he gets them i'll look on it as a bonus!.0 -

Strawberries are really hardy, mine have been outside all winter and are still fine.
So you can put them out, Yes, they will be fine in grobags.
