No Matter How You Pay !

Is there anyone else like me who is getting pi**ed off with the new breed of Television adverts for catalogue firms which state in the ad words .....
"Credit searches will be made and recorded , whichever method you choose to Pay "
In the present Crunch times i think we are all trying to keep our Credit Searches to a minimum and cannot see why a Catalogue firm would need to make these searches if you pay by , say , Credit Card !
Fair enough if you want to open a Credit line with them but why if you are paying by CC, Cash or DD ?
Have seen a few thing i would have liked to buy but not under those conditions !

Catalogue firms are almost always more expensive than other shops, so why anyone would buy from them using a CC I fail to understand. Especially as if you use a voucher not issued to you they reserve the right to reclaim the money later...

The company i work for do credit checks on all first time buyers to reduce the risk of fraud. A few years ago we had about £3000 worth of orders go out the door to an empty house bought using a cloned card. Needless to say, our company didn't get the funds and the goods were signed for by a person never to be seen again.

I can fully understand why companies do this, but then i understand why customers would be wary.

So your company shipped goods to an address other than that registered for the card used to pay?

We did. It's very common for us to have to as we are predominently B2b and cards are quite often registered to home addresses rather than the company.

But if you are paying with a CC then payment is either authourised or declined , why do you need a credit search entered on your file ?

Why would you use a credit card to buy from a massively overpriced catalogue??

If you have a credit card, you could by the item MUCH cheaper from a Shop.

I think you are missing the Point , its not about whether a catalogue is dear or cheaper but about Why they want to do a Recorded Credit search if you are paying by CC ? Aint it hard enough to keep your record straight without irrelevant Searches being carried out ? like i said , fair enough if you want credit from them , not so if you are paying full amount by CC !

Dunno, maybe, catalogues not my bag at all.

Isn't the credit search part of opening the account, not paying the bill??

What happens if your method of payment bounces for any reason? There must be an account for it to be able to go into the red.

If it is a fradulent transaction the payment will go through, but will be reversed when the cardholder realises his details are being used.

So how would a credit search stop that ?
When the cardholder relises .............. ? what ?
