Project starting tonigh/tomorrow

Can I ask some advice please?

I am about to start ripping out my kitchen and installing a new one, I am going to start by taking the wall units off, clean the walls & Ceiling, paint ceiling & Walls then build & fit wall units.

Then I will start on the base units next weekend, take them out, level the floor with levelling compound, if floor is relatively even build & fit base units, if not get floor fitter in to fit entire floor before I start.

Anyone got any time saving/money saving tips I am doing most of the owrk myself, may get a joiner in to do the worktop's not sure about getting continous joins done or just use a metal strip.

Any ideas on cleaning the walls & Ceiling? need quick easy methods

Thanks for your help

Hi Robodan, just my personal opinion here, get a joiner or professional kitchen fitter to do the joints for you. I've been looking at moving house and have seen plenty with the metal strips in the worktops and they don't look classy.

Pay the extra to get it done right and you'll be much happier

    Hi Whits,

Thanks for your opinion, do you have any idea what it would cost?

Best way I know to clean walls and ceiling is to use sugar soap, save tons of elbow grease. I have just done my own kitchen, if you have spare worktop then have a practice of doing the joins yourself, make sure you have a good sharp saw though. Good luck.

Though you can buy it from most diy shops. I tend to use the liquid rather than the crystals, then ( and the manufacture advises against this) for really stubbon grease use it neat on a cloth and rinse off after.

Its usually a nice yellow colour in the bottle, if its seems too cheap check that it isn't pre-diluted.

I believe it should cost about 50 per joint using a joiner for the worktops
