Outpost Firewall software causing broadband to switch off

Hi all,
I downloaded the free version of Outpost Firewall a few weeks ago and it seems to be interfering with the broadband connection - Madasafish helped me understand that this was the cause of the broadband not working and I now have to switch off Outpost every time I go online, which makes no sense at all..
Can anyone advise if this can be corrected by any setting adjustments on Outpost (if so please be gentle with me and explain in baby steps)?
The full version is around 20 Dollars which I am happy to pay if this solves the problem - then again - folks on here may have better recommendations for this kind of software (not too expensive please...)
Thanks all

I'm not familiar with Outpost but whatever firewall you install you will need to learn how to configure it. Learn how to use Outpost here.
Don't connect to the net without a firewall.

Sorry, can't help with Outpost either, but I use Sygate which is easy to use:
