The bond isnt mine, its OH's. The 35% debt is mine - and the balance on it is usally small enough to clear anyway. And yes, we have checked, we were going to use it for the car.*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200

The only thing I can think of from my debt undigging days, is when I had a tough few weeks or months I would have a twin budget which was X amount for shopping that week and then X amount in cash for that week and that was it.
At the time I was on fortnightly social security payments and I had to stick to it or the kids starved. I used to put 50p a week away for the kids to have an icecream from the icecream van on a friday LOL that's how tight the budget was.
You can do it.0 -
We're on half-price Sky at the mo as well.
We have to have our shopping delivered due to us working opposite shifts, OH cant go shopping on his own due his mental health condition and I dont drive (plus I have a bad back) so shopping anywhere cheaper is out. This is a fab suggestion and I get sooo jealous of the girls at work talking about the bargains they have at Aldi - I am very jealous! However, will work on OH about dropping a brand.
Water meter is an excellent idea - I'm onto it now!
You do not need Sky. You may be used to it but you don't need it. We only got Sky very recently because OH loves ESPN but she can afford it, yoou can't. We get little more from Sky than we did from Freeview. Sky is a luxury, one you can't afford.
You don't need to go to Aldi or the likes for cheaper groceries. Whichever supermarket you use, they will have their own brand products. £216 can lowered if there are only 2 of you.0 -
Unless we were certain Freesat worked - we couldnt get shot of Sky. Freeview doesnt work round here, like I said - I dont think we could live without TV at all
We use Tesco - I'm going to have a go at OH about branded products, he refuses to eat Value stuff but Im sure most of their own products are fine.
Thanks everyone
keep em coming
Like I say though - please note we have no terrestrial or Freeview reception around here!*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200 -
I really must go to sleep but T*sco rice crispies taste like the real thing and are much cheaper. Try to buy makeup (branded) from ebay - it is much cheaper. Try to finish off everything in freezer first before restocking. If possible try to ebay old products you no longer use eg. cds, books, clothes. This should be a great source of revenue and go towards debt repayments. goodnight! :wave:Aiming for a minimal spend 20220

thanks saving wannabe

I have loads of makeup so dont really buy it - its usually given as pressies. I am in the midst of putting OH's rugby DVD's on Amazon - that will definitely help!

Others have said it, but buried it in other suggestions. So I'll keep mine brief:
You have on paper 700-odd pounds a month going 'missing'.
Am I the only person who finds this extremely alarming?
In 1 month with that money (if you stop spending it randomly - with the help of a spending diary) you can clear every debt bar mortgage and DMP. In 6 months you could pay off the DMP??
Where's the cash? Find it... use it.
Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j
Do something amazing. GIVE BLOOD.0 -
I am surprised you need to be on a DMP! Plenty of left over cash plenty of capital in house to raise finance to pay it off.
How can this be? and an SOA followed by 'I don't know where it goes', you are not tracking it propertly. I think this could have been solved without a DMP easily.
I am sorry but to see so much capital in a property very little debt and tiny mortgage by going on a DMP means that people like myself paying full whack on interest are funding people like you who can't be bothered to budget properly and we shouldn't be.
That tax you are paying is going on supporting people who are claiming benefits by fraud. I am sure this would annoy you so hence my response.
£4.5k of debt nearly £800k per month spare this would all be over in 6 months!!! Sell the car and get a cheaper one.
Freeview has nothing to do with sky, freeview is aerial, sky is dish, so cancel it as suggested earlier, you will still get your precious TV!!
How can you be holding shares when you owe debt!!!!
You are in debt yet you can afford to keep going to the rugby!! As you are paying for it on TV stop watching it live.
This whole SOA does not add up and is unfair on those who continue to pay interest to support those who just can't be bothered.
Had to be blunt because I don't think anyone else will tell you how it is and I think you haven't had your LBM yet!!0 -
Hi - A 2nd thought on Sky. Even if you cancel your subscription to Sky the box will still work as it does now you'll just get the free channels, i.e. all the bbc and ITV channels, channel 4 & +1, E4 & +1, More 4, Channel 5, fiver, etc, a few news & music channels, sky 3...pretty much what you get with freeview. The only thing that won't work are the Sky+ facilities, if you have Sky+. Its a big saving to be had. Its a bit of a wrench at first but I can honestly say after not having it for 2 months I'm not really missing it - the only thing I really miss are the Sky+ facilities but that's because of convenience more than anything else.0
