Seems fair enough to me. The number of people who pay their electric and water bills late and suffer no adverse consequences for doing so is insane.urs sinserly,

Have to say im a little lost at what the issue is..
OP - please correct if wrong, but sounds like you requested companies to take money from your account that you didnt actually have available? FD accounts usually come with £250 or £500 overdraft fee free - presume you're over this too? Why should they not report the abuse of the credit facilities.
If they just paid out the DDs to these companies they have no reason at all to believe you will pay them back so too right it should be reported!0 -

I have had bounced items with the Cumberland Building Society and it has never even show as an amber dot on my file. In fact they have waived the admin charges when I ask. They must be more generous to their local members.
Why do you find them craaaap as you put it? I have been with them for 20 years and have never had the slightest problem at all. As others have said, you can monitor when your DD's go out of your account. You can arrange to have payment dates just after you have been paid so that they will not bounce. If they still bounce, then you are spending too much. Keep an emergency fund so that you can transfer money into your current account just before payment is due.0 -

Some people will say anything for £100. They've had bounced items with their current bank, whats the betting they had bounced items with first direct ? If you stick to the rules you won't have any problems. Some people will also blame anyone but themselves when things go wrong0 -

I've been with them since they started the internet banking trials (1997 I think it was), where you had to install the First Direct specific 'Banking Software' onto your PC to access internet banking. Never had a problem. Was a bit concerned when they threatened me with the £10 charge, but they waived it after a phone call in which they opened a savings account.
I also objected to the £10 fee when it was introduced. My monthly income was then slightly below the required 1500, partly because I was paying a lot of money into my pension fund. I felt I would be penalised for sensible saving. However it was not so bad when I was told that I could avoid it by having another savings account.0 -
Hi
Do you know if Barclay's report this to your credit file? I just had one returned due to my DD setting on my credit card being set to full rather than minimum. Stupid thing is I had paid the full balance a week before and they then tried to take the full amount again but this time via DD. I don't have overdrafts so they bounced it, just wondering if it will get reported.0 -
If they did, I'm sure they would amend it given the circumstances if you ask nicely and you haven't done it recently.:beer:0
