You are reading your meter incorrectly. As per your picture, it is 05472.38, so your meter readings would be 05479.4 and 05492.3.

Hi stainedye - Can't understand the £929 cost.

Did you get this figure from BG's Customer Service Desk ?,or have you had an actual bill?
The meter readings you have given show 129 units used. On a Metric meter this would result in a bill of roughly £58 depending on the tariff, and on an Imperial meter it would be roughly £165

If your figures are from Customer Services, you should be aware that like all the distributors, they are not the most reliable source of information.
If the figure is from a bill, then check each and every calculation from the Start & End meter readings, the conversation from meter units to chargeable Kw, the multiplication
of the price per KW and each calculation relating to discounts and VAT
    Good Luck

I think you are worrying unnecessarily. Looking at your bill, 1 metric unit is equal to around 11 kWh. 125 metric units is therefore 1375 kWh. You are being charged around 6.6p per kWh. So, 1375 x 6.6 /100 = £91 approx. I suspect you are 10 times out on your calculation.

i would say even £91 is high for a 2 bed flat with heating on 2 hours per day and hot water being electric, dunno though :S

The error you are making is that it's 1518.95 times 6.563 PENCE per kWh, which is just under £100. Still a lot, although it has been cold. Look at your bill and see that it is pence. You are out by a factor of 10.

Bill is dependent on the temperature and the age and efficiency of the boiler. The 0 does matter as it is at the beginning, check when you get a bill that your meter readings show as "05472" or "5472" (with the beginning 0 missed off, but with no additional numbers). The rest, the red digits, are ignored. It is likely they 'ignored' the beginning zero but stopped recording the numbers after the "2".

As kjsmith7 says, you appear to have an ongoing problem with your billing.

Your current meter reading is just 5000 odd (or 05000)
Your bills show meter readings of 50,000 odd.
You should contact your supplier and get this resolved asap. That would explain why you have been (and were thinking you would need to) pay about 10x more than you should be.
