it can take a bit to kick in but its worked a mega treat for us no more interupted star trek0

if it has kicked in yet, other reasons are that the companies who rang you are not registered with them,or that they are registered and are not checking before they phone you.If you have their name you can check with tps if they are a registered user. I think it takes 28 days to take effect,so should be done by now. If a company that is registered rings you,you can complain, but dont think this includes foreign call centres and market research.
I have also just registered my mobile0 -

http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/cgi-bin/tps_complaints.plTime has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
tps is voluntary though.0

I am also registered with the TPS the number I have has been registered for at least 4 years but I still get calls for Mr Myles (not even me). The trouble is these people withold their numbers (illegal I thought) and quite often refuse to say which company is making the calls. I kept hanging up on one guy and they kept ringing back until I told them to eff off as I was TPS registered suddenly he was all sweetness and light and very apologetic. It doesn't make up for the fact that I had yet another evenining interupted by these unsolicited calls
I used to work in fax marketing and we always screened our numbers against a list we bought from the FPS/TPS people so we didn't break the law. Reputable firms use these lists the others both in and outside the UK don't bother as I guess the cost of getting the lists isn't worth it compared to the risk of getting fined :hello: Like a Broken Pencil I Have No Point :hello:0 -
Unfortunately i believe tps is pretty toothless-been told a report is made to Information Commissioner-no fine though.0

just say 'registered with tps and please remove me from your database with effect from today, I have had several calls from your company during the past few days, otherwise I will be making a complaint to trading standards re harrassment'
works for me..... tis similar to BOGOFsmile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to....

The trick I use is to ask them what company they are calling from and then inform them that I am registered with the TPS and will be filiing a complaint about them - I then go online and complain through the TPS websiteWeight Loss - 102lb0

Half of them dont know what TPS stands for as they are youngsters and when I said to one about cold calling he did not know what I meant! We use TPS and the odd one gets through = its very annoying.Saving in my terramundi pot £2, £1 and 50p just for me! :j0
