Insurance questions - help please
So I set off to hspital on Tuesday morning, driving past parked cars on the left and right, when some loony mother desperate to get her child to school (I live right by a school) goes for a gap between me and a parked car that isn't there and taps me pretty hard. Her wing mirror slams into mine, and she redirects my car into the car directly to my left, smashing both mine and his wing mirror. Then she just naffs off. I never thought to note the number plate as I was stunned she went for a gap that was blatently too small.
Now it gets interesting.
So, being the gentleman I am, I popped a note on the car whose wing mirror got smashed letting him know what happened and my house number and phone number. It's better than coming out to a smashed mirror and nothing else, right?
Well damn me if he isn't expecting me to pay for the damage. I've explained to him that I was shoved into his car by the woman, but he still expects me to pay. My insurance excess is too much to bother, but I'm not sure where I stand now. I'm absolutely livid as I was good enough to leave a note rather than naff off as well, yet I'm seemingly in the poo now. Aside from anything else, I've got a smashed wing mirror to pay for too.
Can I tell him to do one? Am I liable in any way?

You're liable. He was parked, you hit him.0

Go back during the school run,she will probably drop the kids off again and you can get the number0

He may have been parked, but am I liable, as she hit me, changing my direction of travel? Isn't she the proximate cause?0

He can claim from you, you can pass the claim onto her, if you can find her.0
