Does the number of days you list and item have an impact on sales figures???

Hello,

I am fairly new to E-Bay, I just wondered if the number of days you list and item for has any impact on how much you make.

I have been listing items for 5 days, and this seems to go well, however I thought about listing for 7 days or even 3 to see if it makes any difference.

Obviously the longer your item is on E-Bay the more people see it.

Does anyone with more experience know if this affects how much you make?

Thank You

As you said, the longer the listing the more views it gets.

I also find that if you end on a weekend, then you get a hell of a lot more views.
So on a five day listing, you'd want to list on a Tuesday (Tue to Sun), a 3 day would be best to list from Thursday to end on Sunday, likewise a 10 day.
7 day, I find Sunday to Sunday is best, but this is just my experience (I've been using ebay since May 2005, I've got around 620 feedback).

    Hope this helps :T

I find peeps are getting less and less willing to wait for long drawn-out auctions, my best sales are on 3-day BIN/best-offers running Fri/Sat/Sun. For 99% of items it's trivial to see what completed prices are and set yours accordingly to the 'going rate'.

1 day listings for me on a weekend.

Anything more is just a waste unless buy it now is used as most people will not bid until last 24hrs.

People are impatient and do not want to wait 7 or 10 days before the auction draws to a close and the bids start coming in

This is good, but as ebay says, it can take up to 24 hours for it to turn up on the site so 1 day listings aren't always the best?

  • It depends on the item. If it's a unique/one-off item then I list for 7 or 10 days (and end on a decent evening). If it's one of many (eg common video games) then a short listing is fine.

I've just listed, and sold, lots of clothes from my wardrobe, most of which were new and unworn. I had MUCH more success (bids and final price) for auctions finishing late Monday morning than I did for those which finished Sunday evening. Sunday evening was a complete let down actually and some people got real bargains (a voucher went for around 40% of it's face value).

  • i usually do 3 days listings. sometimes 5 days depending on what im selling.
I also lose interest in long auctions and bit usually in last 5/10 minutes

Never been completely convinced about the Sunday evening finish, always thought people were more thinking about Monday morning work rather than buying online. Just my opinion mind.

I put my exercise DVDs on a 10 day with a BIN if it's worth it, I think people like having the choice of if they can't get it anywhere else, then they should get it off eBay. Think it's working as, I've got so many watchers on a few things.

I list for 10 days starting on a Wed or Thurs so that the listing runs over 2 weekends as that is when the number of watchers increases most.
