Thanks nodrog, you (and hubby) are stars for doing this!

Sorry to bump, but i've got one quick question... do you think you can enter twice, with 2 different e-mail addresses? I can't find reference to it saying you can't anywhere, just one entry per registered e-mail address?

    Thanks in advance!

w/reg to previous house winners - it took a great deal of badgering for the mail to provide details of last year's comp winner. in the past twenty years some of the mail's comps have seemed complete bogus - wins never awarded/ publicised - or if they were eventually warranted a mention in a single sentence in the paper you would never be able to find any information about the purported winner in any other news media. eg. given the huge value of winning a house you would have thought the winner's local rag would pick up on the promotion - or you could find more info on them elsewhere. a few years ago the mail were challenged on their silence and their answer was that their previous house/cottage/villa winners had requested anonymity. however all their promotions then (as now i believe) always stated you had to consent to publicity if you won - so the absolute lack of it was, frankly, suspect. having said that someone here did post they won a mega-boat promo the mail ran a while back. good luck all.
p.s - there was once a famous winner - a mr bloodworth - who apparently won a dorset dream cottage "worth" £325,000 - only the cottage was prone to flooding, the rambling roses were plastic thanks to the photo shoot dressing, the lawn had a manhole drain in it etc. and the winner took one look and didn't move in. the story went that the daily mail then resold the cottage. at what price ? i don't know, but not that quoted on their promo literature that's for sure. and there was no news on what mr bloodworth received in exchange.

A collegue of a friend of mine won a few years ago. I don't want to give any details as this is not my information to share, but the prize was genuine.

Its a free competition, nothing to be lost by entering. And when we have somebody as kind as nodrog willing to share the entry information, it really seems silly not to.

  • To clear up about Daily Mail winners.

The Daily Mail cottage in Kent comp a couple of years ago was won by a lady ( can't remember the name ) & was sold by the DM on her behalf. We know the new owners & our company has worked on the house since it was sold. It's in an excellent area & is a really nice house.

Thanks for your post cestlavie, very interesting read :)
