A&L Premier Account - £25.00 Unauth O/D Charges!

Hiya,

I've had an A&L current account for a year now.

Salary paid in, until last October. ESA paid in since then.

As I went overdrawn for 5 days last week 8th - 12th March inc, they have charged me £5.00 per day = £25.00.

Or rather, they are due to charge me this on April 17th.

I phoned A&L today and asked them if, as a gesture of goodwill, they would waiver the £25.00 in charges, but they wouldn't budge!

The chap kept saying that as they'd already refunded £25.00 last October, and as "they are only allowed to refund £25.00 maximum in 12 months, they would not be able to waiver these extra charges.

I take it firmly on the chin, that I went overdrawn for those 5 days, in error, due to a debit card payment taking me about £7.00 into the red.

I asked him repeatedly if we could escalate this to a Manager, but he would not put me through!

Any ideas as to if / how it is possible to ask A&L to be fair? Or am I looking at having to stump up the £25 next month?

Many Thanks,

Leigh.

I cant see what your winging about TBH, you went OD and you have been charged for it. They have already let you off once this year which was nice of them. How is this unfair? Just take it like a man and pay up.

I got caught similarly - but mine was down to it taking 5 days for money to transfer from an 'Abbey' account to an 'A&L' account - ie. both Santander accounts really. Strangely enough, the money exited Abbey instantly, but took 5 days to make its way to A&L. I wonder where it went in the meantime???

A&L refunded the £25 administration charge, but refused to budge on the £5 per day interest charges. I'm about to see if Abbey can help. No prizes for guessing where that will lead!

Surley this is not the kind of account to be running so low on funds? Why risk it?
