Uncommanded Freeview selections

Does anybody else have problems with there freeview box doing the wrong thing when you press a number on the remote? Say I select 1 it goes to channel 7, or the guide randomly appears while scrolling through the channels ect. The prob is particularly bad in bbc text. Is there a fix for this kind of thing? we have a hitachi freeview box, not sure of model number, but I can find out if it makes a difference. Cheers.

I know this might sound daft but try changing the batteries in your remote.

I know there is an issue with NTL/Telewest cable remotes (i know this from experience) when the batteries are failing they throw out different commands !

have you tried disconnecting the box from the mains for a few minutes and then connect him up again

sounds like batteries, a bug, or a coffee spill, if the later, take it apart and clean the contacts/rubber mat.
