I wonder if anyone else has come accross this problem.

I cannot access the Megaupload.com site or Rapidshare.com. I use Megaupload to store documents I need to access on the move. However today I can't access it at all via any of my home computers. I'm thinking it's somthing to do with my router/broadband as I can access it via my mobile as long as I don't do it via the home network. On my main PC I use Firefox but on the laptop I use IE and niether are accessing it. Both are running Windows 7 with AVG free anti-virus.

It may or may not have any bearing but I did have to change some of the settings/add ons on my main PC in firefox as my brother had used it yesterday and done something to it so it wouldn't load. My desktop PC accesses the network/internet by cable and my laptop accesses it via wifi.

I can access every other website.

Any ideas. I'm getting desperate.

I know this doesn't answer your question, but you should consider using Dropbox in future. It's an excellent service, and you get 2 GB of storage for free.

A month or two ago Megaupload - and possibly one or two similar sites - became inaccessible to me if I visited them directly, but they worked fine via an anonymous proxy. It turns out that my ISP - Plusnet - uses a service at http://www.iwf.org.uk/ to filter all URLs you visit. Normally this goes unnoticed as it is only supposed to intercept really nasty stuff, but for some reason IWF had been set to filter entire file serving sites.

I've just checked Megaupload and it is working, so I'd advise you to:

1/ try replacing www with ssl in the Megaupload address.

2/ try an anonymous proxy site. I can't personally recommend one as I have little experience of them, but I'd strongly advise you not to send any private information - passwords, user names, etc. - via one of these services.

The Plusnet thread relating to this is here.

Ir could also be that one of your firewalls - Windows, router, Zonealarm, Comodo or whatever - has acquired a rule blocking these sites, in which case you should be able to access the sites via a proxy. If you can't locate which, try disabling each one temporarily until you can access Megaupload.

Thanks for that. I've managed to access via the ssl technique.

Nornally I use the Mega Manager to upload/download things. Is there anyway to get this back or will I just have to use hte internet browser from now on.

What is your ISP? I've just checked and I have the same problem with Sky, I can access the ssl site and the normal site through a proxy, but can't get onto the normal site directly

My ISP is Sky too. I've now checked on the Sky forum and it seems to have been a problem over the last day or so. Hopefully it'll be back up soon.
