OK,

Rolled my car 3 times in a ditch and wrote it off (going slowly too! wretchid black ice!!).

Decided to fully immerse in Bangernomics so, using my mates simulcast account (Manheim online auction) was looking at a sale in Middlesbrough and bought a 2001 Y plate Renault Laguna Sports Tourer 1.9 DCi with 93k on the clock.

Bought it 'blind' as the auction house stated '1 months tax/mot', 'no history', 'smoking from bonnet'. Paid £1000 on the nail.

Got it delivered, car is in mint condition, smoke was caused by broken breather pipe, FULL service history in the glovebox along with reciepts for (all in the last 12 months...), new turbo £1500, new clutch £1200, new discs, pads and tyres all round.... Every MOT from new etc etc etc.

Everything works (rare) except for a sensor fault on the screen caused by there being no sensor on the tyre, and a reciept from a Renault dealer explaining that they didnt have one in stock when they did tyres, and a statement saying they will replace it free of charge!

Blimey....

Half of me instantly wants to sell it, I reckon £1750-1900 for a quick sale, or keep it as its lovely to drive!

And it's bound to be the next one you buy that'll cost you over a grand in repairs if you sell this one.

You took a gamble there with that one - Laguna diesels are unloved and for good reason - they tend to be money pits.

Sounds like you've got a good a one as is possible though.

Fingers crossed it wont cost you too much.

Heres a similar one for £1449, so theres probably a few hundred in it if you tried to sell it on.

    +1

    Excellent price then.

If its had all that money spent i'd be inclined to run it for a year and see how it goes. I'd say you could still break even as it sounds like its had money spent on maintenance.
