Give the car a good "burn out" down the motorway, this should do it a world of good. (But make sure you take a breakdown number with you just in case the head gasket is faulty!!)

Re the mayo on the dipstick, I had all but written off my 13 year old Volvo the other week after finding mayo on the dipstick. However when I done a search on the Volvo forum I use and found that the most likely cause was condensation build up due to short journeys and the cold weather. I booked it into the garage for a once over before deciding if it was worthwhile going for its MOT and they confirmed it was nothing to worry about and was only condensation.

My advice to you would be to try and find a Saab forum and ask the same question on there. I dont mean any disrespect to the helpful folks on here but you will more than likely find numerous people have had the same issue on exactly the same type of car as you so may be in a better place to offer advice.

how do we go about cleaning it???

cyclone.... death knoll for all engines??? what do you mean??? get something serviceable?? do you mean buy a new car??

Take no notice, some people are just out to scare you.

Some engines (vauxhalls 1.6 8v engine being a very notable example) just suffer from this problem. Some modern engines tend to over cool and as such the engine never seems to evaporate any water vapour and it just emulsifies with the oil.

You could of course have numerous tests done, but these will cost you a lot of money and they are not always 100% conclusive either. You said its been the same after a few oil changes so I guess the problem has been there for 20-30k miles or so? If thats the case, I wouldnt worry too much.

By the way if white emulsion around the filler cap signifies a head gasket failure then my car came out the factory with a duff head gasket and has had one for the past 60k miles :D
