Putting a tumble dryer into a rented flat - landlady's response

I don't see how the Landlady could stop you installing your own tumbledrier, though, if you wanted to do so (aside from giving you notice to leave, of course, which would be rather OTT). One thing to remember is - in terms of neighbours - these things can sound very loud on a hard floor.
OT slightly but I've just done a search on tumble dryers and neighbours and this thread came up...I live in a flat with 1 flat above me, the property has concrete floors and we rarely hear the people upstairs apart from when their tumble dryer is going, sometimes it goes all day. It started this morning at 7.55 and finished last night around 8pm. The vibration noise from it is loud and is quite frankly annoying. I haven't mentioned it to them apart from the day they moved in, they had it going til 11pm and it was situated above my DD's bedroom they've since moved it to the kitchen. Has anyone got any advice how I approach them? I'm wondering if it's on a hard floor or touching a wall, maybe it needs a mat or something underneath it?
I'm probably going to put a note through their door this morning when I go out as I'm a wuss and hate these situations!!
Oh and we have big industrial type rotary washing lines outside and it's sunny here today....!!!!"Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could only do a little." Edmund Burke

Leaving notes instead of speaking directly and politely can be seen as very passive/aggressive. Some people do not react well to receiving notes no matter how reasonable or polite so I would try and dissuade you from leaving one. It's entirely possible that your neighbours are unaware of how much noise the dryer is making.0

A spinner will get tons of extra water out of the clothes - (Not a salad spinner!) and that makes them quicker to dry.0

Are you sure it's a tumble dryer, running for 12 hours is going to cost a fortune.
Fan heater, de-humidifier?
It's better to knock, and speak to them. Maybe they can put polystyrene, or a soundproof mat of some type under it if you ask them. Then if it doesn't work you can go back, rather than a series of notes which tbh are annoying.0 -
Hi, yes it's a tumble dryer, it's a condenser one, they told me that a while back. I'll go up and speak to them, just didn't want to appear to be moaning but as someone said they may not realise. Thanks x"Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could only do a little." Edmund Burke
