Hi All
I am looking at ways of earning a few extra pounds (aren't we all) and was considering joining Jamie at Home.
Can anyone give me some advice e.g is it easy to get the parties, do you get many refereals, how much do you make, is it worth the £115 outlay?
Thanks for your help

Hi,
I am a consultant for The Pampered Chef, which is similar to Jamie at Home, but we do a live cooking presentation as well.
I find it hard work getting bookings for shows. If you have an endless supply of friends and family willing to have shows for you, then it might not be so bad!
I'm not sure about Jamie, but we offer fundraiser shows as well, so you can offer these to schools, charities etc.
The stuff we get in our kit is well worth the money and you only need to do 4 shows, with no time limit on when these are done.
Hope I haven't put you off! Its certainly worth it for me, as I get out of the house, I dont have to pay for childcare and I get a little extra pocket money each week, but its definitely not an easy ride!0 -
I had a go at this and found it really hard to get bookings. There are so many hassley add on extra costs, like delivery costs if you didn't get a big order. You need to buy order forms, party gadgets and other incentives. I did make a little money and I now have some lovely things in my kit. The problem for me was running out of parties over Xmas and not having enough friends to get me going again.
I found you had to be quite pushy and the managers are pushy too, always trying to get you to do stalls and things and I'mnot that kind of person.
Also they change the catalogue every 4 months and unless you do really well on sales you have to pay for the new kit so although you can pay off the initial expense I found that with the number of weekly parties I wanted and was able to get I would be always having to buy new kit and that defeats the object.
It's quite easy actually doing a party, fun and nice products but they are quite pricey.

Hi
I have been with Jamie at Home since Nov, having been with several party plan companies over the years I have found this one to be very good for me.
Bookings are coming in and I am finding that more and more people have now heard of Jamie at Home and are keen to book.

I've done party plan in the past and a couple of tips I would say:
Choose a product that you are passionate about, there's no point trying to sell something you don't believe in.
Remember it's hard work, you need to put the time in.
Ask around your friends before you sign up to see if they would be interested in holding parties for you.
I did Virgin Vie and the hardest part was getting the bookings...
Some of my friends had parties, but only once and I found it really hard to get bookings from the parties I did do.
Have a good look at all the opportunities before you decide and don't jump in without talking it through with the people who are closest to you, if you can get them on your side it will be easier for you.
I've recently joined Wikaniko, we sell Eco-Friendly products. I feel much more comfortable selling these products than I did Vie cosmetics. It's still early days but I feel much more positive, and there are no targets or managers pushing you. You just do what you feel comfortable with.
Have a look at my homepage if you're interested
And good luck whatever you decide

I am a Pampered Chef consultant - I started in Sept last year. I was approached to do it after I went to a show. I love the stuff and was attracted by the idea of getting my hands on lots of their products and earning a bit of pocket money. I was very dubious though as other friends had done Usbourne etc and not done very well. Anyway, I have done 22 shows and done £7600 in sales - I get 20% of that paid to me twice monthly. I love it! I have been given extra products which is great too. They are a very professional company and the level of support is amazing. You can do as little or as much as you want - I know people who pay their mortgage with it. I just do it so I can buy my kids nice clothes! I do one show a week which si enough for me - there is no pressure to do anything. I get 1-2 bookings per show.
Good luck!0 -

i agree with doing something you like and are passionate about...i am an avon rep and sales leader. avon as a company dont 'do' parties but a rep can organise one if they want..ive done one, but from that i have 3 other bookings
avon has a nominal start up fee to become a rep (15 pound) and with avon you can work as easy or as hard as you like with the oppertunity to become a sales leader and have your own team of reps
i love being a rep!0 -
