What do I use to fill a

50p size hole in a hollow (cheap) door?

    I would cut a piece of hardboard which is a bit longer than the hole and as wide as I can get away with. Loop an elastic band round the middle of it (i.e. band round, then through itself so you get a tight piece round the wood and a long tail to hold on to). You should then be able to wiggle the piece of hardboard in and behind the door skin and use some glue to fix it behind the skin - the laccy band can be used to pull it tight against the door skin while the glue sets. That will give you some strength in the hole and you can then fill it with some wood filler.

    Above is some brilliant advice.... i was going to say pretty much the same.

    On building sites we use a very similar method with paster board before plaster :)

    i use a wood screw in the middle of the wood piece. just unscrew it when the glue sets proper.

  • last time I had to fix something similar I used car body filler as it can be mixed very thick and does not run ;)
