PCN for having 2 numbers the wrong way around on a visitors permit

Options
My girlfriend had her car broken into the other day, it is usually parked on a street where there are no parking restrictions.

Autoscreen came to fix the smashed in window the next and the car needed to be parked outside her house, I said I would wait in for the Autsocreen guy to come and fix the car. I filled out the visitor parking permit and put the voucher in the car.

Parkin requires a permit for 8.30am till 6.30pm at 3.30pm I look out the window and see there has been a parking ticket. And can't understand why.

She phoned up today to find out and apparently I had mixed up to letter in the space to fill in the vehicles registration. instead of R688 5PQ I had written R886 5PQ, an honest mistake, why would you display a visitor permit with the wrong registration number, that makes no sense.

It was noted on the PCN that the ticket was not displayed correctly, well it was displayed correctly, just not filled out correctly!

The street is crawling with parking officers all day and it took them 7 hours to spot this, it's not like we tried to park there illegally, we made an honest mistake if appealed is this likely to be successful.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Copies please of the ticket they gave you, both sides, remove vrm and personal details. Leave time and dates. Post in this thread and maybe others can find a way out for you.
