Hi all, i'm looking to have a stair runner fitted & dont know
what gap to have. My stairs are 30" wide,and its in a terrace.Do i have a
6" gap or a 4" gap?? ie either side....

Its down to personal preference, I would say 6" normally looks more effective. You could always go between and go for 5". Any stair rods will fit either side on 4" or 6".0

As above.....personal preference.
If your stair wood is bobbins, you might not want too much showing. If you intend to paint it.....it doesnt matter that much, although bare wood looks best.
I would go for a third wood to 2 thirds runner. so, in your case, I would have 5" gaps either side.If only everything in life was as reliable...AS ME !!
