Hi all
I wonder if anyone can offer a solution to this?
I need a display for an exhibition. We were supposed to have catalogues (at a cost of around £80) printed but it's been pointed out to me that that is a bit redundant. Instead it was suggested that we use a digital photo frame to display about 120 images. We can also then use it again at the next exhibition for relatively small cost, plus it saves on paper etc.
I can't find a digital photo frame larger than around 12 inch (and that was around £120), and we could do with the display being a bit larger.
I know I can get a 19/20" monitor for less than £100. But I also then need a small device of some sort as the engine for it. Can anyone suggest anything we can connect up to a monitor that is:
relatively small
inexpensive
can hold around 120 images of around 500k each (or more if poss)?
Much appreciate any suggestions.
cheers all

The atmosphere is currently filled with hypocrisy so thick that it could be sliced, wrapped, and sold in supermarkets for a decent price and labeled, 'Wholegrain Left-Wing, Middle-Class, Politically-Correct Organic Hypocrisy'.

dont you have a laptop available to you?
you could use this to drive any monitor using whatever out the laptop has0 -
i was going to suggest one of these windows ce netbooks that usually sell for about £90 but they dont have external monitor ports
if you look on gumtree or ebay you can fine some pretty decent older laptops for sub £100, would need to check on postage though.0 -
Thanks guys but a laptop was the first thing we thought of - but it has a large 'footprint' and what ever we use needs to go on/into a smallish area. That's why the digital photo frame idea works but we think a monitor sized (19"+) would work the best.
Are there any monitors that can take and run a USB stick or something would anyone know?

the only other thing i can think of is hunting for a 17-19in TV with USB support.
http://www.dealclick.co.uk/product/13408712/-Bush-A319-19in--HD-Ready-LCD-TV-.php
is the first thing i could find, i know its 199 but thats all i can find.
if you get a flat TV you "could" get a dvd player that supports USB (these are more common and cheaper) and play them through the TV.
sorry im out of ideas now0 -
Thanks guys - had to try, but it's probably not feasible. The atmosphere is currently filled with hypocrisy so thick that it could be sliced, wrapped, and sold in supermarkets for a decent price and labeled, 'Wholegrain Left-Wing, Middle-Class, Politically-Correct Organic Hypocrisy'.0

nowhere you could seat it within say 5 metres?

just for the cost of the cable it would allow a much larger display/quality
if you want a monitor with usb/memory card then you may have to look for a LCD TV
this has a built in DVD player

so you could maybe make a slide show DVD?
maybe a cheap media box like this

you would need to ensure your monitor had HDMI or get a convertor0 -

Hi all,
I know you have a tight budget but speak to these guys at POD (steve). They are extremely helpful.
Thier website section has a range of options, (search for POD displays in google) they should have everything you need.
You would obvoiusly need an extension cable and choose between usb, compact flash or hard drive, laptop.
hope it helps although it may be a bit pricey0 -
A bit of :spam: perhaps?
What do others think?
