Problems with application for Nationwide Credit Card

I'm sorry this is a long post but just wanted to explain all circumstances.
Around 6-8 weeks ago I was looking to transfer a balance from Virgin to a new 0% credit card. I did apply for an MBNA and was turned down and, following the advice on the board, was reluctant to make another application to another credit card company in case it affected my credit scoring.
Anyway, around 5 weeks ago I took the bull by the horns and applied for a Nationwide credit card online. My application was accepted online and I think I was given a £2,000 credit limit (which I had no problems with). Around two weeks passed and I heard nothing so I contacted Nationwide by telephone to let them know, they said that they could do nothing until 15 working days had elapsed so I waited and waited. Still received nothing so rang again on 17 July and was told someone would ring me on mobile the following day. No call came so I rang again on 19th who took my details and said someone would contact me, again I heard nothing. Rang again on 20 July and spoke to supervisor who said the credit card department were moving the following day and they could do nothing until Monday, 24 July but she would ring me that day, even if it was just with an update. She didn't. I rang the following day, she apologised and said she would contact the department the following day and ring me back. She did ring me back but didn't have all the information from me to enable them to search for my application. I gave her that info and she rang them today and rang me back to confirm that cc agreement is in the post first class today.
Give the delay in this process I have incurred interest on my Virgin CC and although I accept that some of this interest is my own fault due to my delay in applying for card, some of it is due to the delay by Nationwide in processing application.
Would you ask Nationwide for a refund of some of this interest because of this delay.
Thanks.

yes, why not? just tell them...well...you have been waiting for your credit card ages, in many cases which should be within 10 days...and you don't have money to spend, can't go to work, can't arrange your holiday...just waste time and money on the endless phone call and wait for their return call every day...now you want their compensation, let's see if this does work...good luck.0

LOL, I hear a tiny bit of sarcasm there
. No I don't think you should even try to claim because you are playing the system - although it might be worth a try if you have the bare faced cheek, the most they can do is say no.
