PTFA - Issue with cash prizes?

Our PTFA wants to set up a slimming club and people put £2 in each week - £1 goes to the PTFA and £1 goes into a 'pot'. The person who loses the most weight then gets the money in 'the pot'.

Is there an issue with this at all? The other would be a prize of a chosen gift voucher to the value.

Thanks for any help.

I am not sure, it's the PTFA for the school. I know we do fundraisers all the time and have a bank account so guess that it is registered.

I think it would be classed as a fundraiser because half the money will be going to the PTFA and the other to the person who has lost the most weight.

I know they did cash prizes last year for Bingo but this year we did vouchers.

You may need to ask people to turn out their pockets on the first weigh-in, is my only thought ... On The Archers a while back, they ran a slimming club, and one of the Grundys had 'borrowed' some of his wife's weights from the scales so that he could carry on eating as before and still appear to lose weight. :rotfl:
