Ryanair debit card charge

I have just booked a Ryanair flight. Is it my imagination or has their "debit card charge" recently increased from £0.40 to £0.60 per leg of your flight?
May seem a trivial amount but it adds still further to their hidden charges and profits when we have recently been hearing in the news about how they and Sleasyjet will have to advertise full prices.
Is £0.60 a true reflection of their handling costs or just an extra charge? Surely it should be a percentage if it is a real cost, and should be per transaction, not per flight sector.
Does anyone know how to get a Visa Electron card which is free? I don't think my bank offers them.

I agree with you. These charges for using credit/debit cards seem to be on the increase in all sorts of areas. This si the thin end of the wedge as far as I can see. It wont be long before we are charged for using credit cards for everything we buy.

In reality I'm sure that shops factor in the charges in their selling prices that they have to pay credit card companies for conducting transactions. However, personally I believe that Ryanair are dubiously using these charges to cross subsidise the low flight costs. I can't believe it possible that Ryanair can fly people around for just £1 or even less in some cases. They rack up their charges with all the airport duties. However, I'm sure that they don't actually have to pay all of this money to airport authorities otherwise they certainly could not make a profuit.

The true cost to Ryanair is about 20p per TRANSACTION for a debit card, not per leg of the flight.
This is such an obvious bit of ridiculous hokum that it serves to illustrate the deceptive nature of their charges.

A recent German expose showed that many of Ryanair's "charges" were several time the real cost of that charge

Ryanairs charges are among the lowest in the industry. All their charges are clearly explained.
Thomsonflys charges to Pisa from Bournmouth come to £19.50
    Ryanairs charges same route £12.48
