BT - Interest charged from when?

Is it usual for a cc company to start charging interest from the day a BT is requested and accepted even although it's not yet been completed?
I did a BT on a Sunday night, (moved balance from from MBNA to Capital One) interest was charged from the Monday but it's now Thursday and both card accounts are still showing the same balance so it hasn't completed.

Yes it is, interest will be charged from the moment you request the balance transfer on the new card and until the transaction appear on the one you're transferring from, which can take up to 7 to 10 days0
