Allotment under threat - advice please

I've been Money Tipped!
Bit of a long story but the allotment site where DH and I have our plot has been earmarked as the recommended site for a new park & ride scheme in Bristol. There are a great many reasons why this is one of the worst ideas in the history of bad ideas, including the fact that it is prime agricultural land that was gifted to the people of Bristol by the Duke of Beaufort for growing food etc. If the scheme goes ahead, it's likely work will start in 3-4 years, maybe sooner depending on funding. It will also affect local residents due to the pollution etc.

Anyway, the long and short of it is that there is a council meeting next week regarding the issue and our local councillor (who opposes the plans), has asked interested parties to prepare statements to go to the committee in opposition of the proposal.

Just wondering if anyone has had any experience of fighting these sorts of battles and drawing up statements to go to committees.
