Sal, it sounds like he is struggling to accept it is over. I think that's fairly normal. I had been telling Stu for about 2 years that I was unhappy and if things didn't change our marriage would be over, but I don't think he ever really thought it would happen, and he really struggled to accept it.
He wanted to live in the camper on the drive for a few months, to give us both 'space', then he didn't want to sign a 6 month contract for a rented house in case we worked it out...it took a good few weeks for him to realise the split was permanent.
There's no reason you couldn't go and visit him, in time. But for now, maybe say something like you think B needs time to get used to you not being together before you start going to visit, otherwise it will confuse her.
