ebay USA-Unwilling to ship to UK

Has anyone had personal experience of using a 3rd party shopper within the USA who will buy an item from ebay on your behalf & ship to the UK? I've seen a guitar but the seller won't ship overseas. It's quite expensive so I'm worried about getting ripped off.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Did you ask before you bid if they shipped overseas?0

Yeah...tried my best to convince them but wouldn't budge!0

That is far too many people to trust and i can't see any seller being willing to post to a third party as of course they lose any seller protection.
Just look for another seller and just remember whislt it might look cheap you need to factor in all the import and handling charges.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Do you mean the companies which provide you with a US post box address and forward parcels to you in the UK? I've used shipito.com when ordering from US websites before with no problem, and they're one of the less expensive options. I believe they will buy on ebay for you - but only Buy-It-Now items. They do charge extra for this service, though. Other similar companies will buy from ebay and send it to you, too.0

Hi! Yes, that's exactly what I was after...I've seen their adverts but wasn't sure if they were ok. Thanks!:T0

I've got a feeling this isn't going to end well.
You'll have 17.5% VAT to pay, plus any other customs charges, on top of everything elseHope over Fear. #VoteYes0 -

With all due respect, that is probably the same concern the seller has!!
A friend of mine uses Parcel2go import services to get specialist car parts, and has never had any problems, but be wary of customs fees on higher value items - https://www.parcel2go.com/Rent-US-Address.aspx<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
Yes, definitely check out potential customs and VAT fees on top of shipping costs. They can work out to be shockingly high.
I tend to only buy things which are either impossible to obtain over here, or which would still work out less expensive if they other potential charges are added. Sometimes you get lucky and parcels aren't picked up by Customs, but best not to rely on that being the case.0 -
A friend i work with got a guitar from US, he worked out that it would cost about the same to fly over an pick it up, a nice few day break in NY.0
