Complaints about IGT

We moved into a new build apartment about two years ago. Our gas is supplied by Scottish Power, but is delivered, not by TRANSCO, but by an independent transporter, (IGT), which means we incur higher costs.
We are therefore in the unfair position of not being able to switch our gas/electricity supplier, because of the apparent wholesale energy supplier opposition to IGT.
Is there any way we can leave IGT. If so, who do we contact?, Is there an energy supplier we can go to who will deal with IGT, and supply competitively

You can change gas suppliers, it is just most of them charge you extra for being with an IGT. The only way to find out which do and which don't is speak to them (and make sure they know what they are talking about). To start your search off EDF don't charge extra.
You will find that it is newer properties that are connected via IGTs as they charge the developers less than Transco (some used to actually pay the developer), and they recover the money by charging the gas companies more (much more) than Transco. Ofgem have started to do something about this ripoff, but it is taking some time.0
