Graphics Card question

Apologies for another one, but I didn't want to hijack the other guys thread....
After a little advice here a while back I looked into a 9600 pro. I then got slightly sidetracked as they make it so easy to talk yourself up to the next level "it's only £10 more and I get X, Y and Z with the XT card..."
A friend thought the 9800 pro was a V good card and with a bit of searching found one for only £30 more than the cheapest 9600 pro. Coming in at £104 delivered.
Only when it arrived it wasn't a 9800 pro, but a 9800 platinum (apparently similar to a 9800SE, same as a 9800 but with 128MB memory bandwidth).
So....
Is it a decent card for this price?
Should I send it back and stick with the 9600 pro?
All I really want is to be able to play Call of Duty and Battlefield Vietnam.... (maybe halo?)
PC's getting on a bit now, 2 years old, early P4...
Any thoughts??
Oh and it was sold as the retail box, but was missing the games included in the card makers spec of the retail box......
E.M.

If it was sold as a retail box, then it should have come with the games. I would complain. Also it's a platinum not a pro. You could justifiably return it for a full refund as the goods are not as described. It it was advertised as a Pro I would argue that they should supply you with this and not
ATI confused the market by releasing a 128 bit bus version of the 9800Pro, when they had been 256 bit. After an outcry by people feeling ripped off card manufacturers came up with different names for the 128 bit versions.
As far a performance

3D Mark 2001 and 2003 are also probably worth running and compare figures.
I would expect a 9800Pro to cost nearer £140.Hug provider for depression thread :grouphug:

I've already talked to the company and they're (grudgingly) taking it back. I guess it was a case of to good to be true....
I had a quick look through some reviews, but none of them I found compare it to a 9800 pro. I'd planned to go through the reviews to get a list of cards they do compare it too so I can hopefully plot the platinum card in on a big list I found here
It's bloody annoying cos it took ages to come to a decision in the first place....0
