Bank deposit gone missing.

I am with a very highly respected high street bank since last 5 years. I never had any problems what so ever with this bank.
But 2 days back when i deposited some money (200 pounds) in cash into the bank's deposit machine, i was given a auto receipt.
It has been over 50 hours now and the money is not yet being credited into my account. Inspite of couple of calls to the customer service i have not got a conclusive answer nor the money is being credited into the account.
I have a credit card payment due today. I am worried it is going to get bounced and being penalised for that. Credit card is with a rival banking firm so i cannot request the payment to be delayed.
I dont know what to do now. Did anybody come across this situation before. What all options do i have.
Thanks in advance.

AFAIK the machines are emptied daily of the deposit envelopes - so if we are talking Tuesday & you deposited after that days retrieval then it would have not been accessed & applied to your account until the Wednesday & should be able to be seen on your account 1st thing this morning - have you contacted the branch to see if there is a problem? - each bank or B/S may be different so check your T & C for ATM deposits, this may even be printed on the reverse of your bank statement0

I know this may sound a strange question but did you put a paying in receipt with your account details in the envelope along with the cash? If so, was it a pre-printed one or one you'd hand-written the account details on yourself?

which bank do you use? Halifax's one will credit money up to 7 working days if you put the cash into the ATM.Spend smart, and save more.0

This happened to me before. I paid cash in at the machine but the printer that prints on the envelopes (dif one than what prints the receipt) so they know who it belonged to had ran out of ink so when I called the branch and confirmed when and were I paid it in the money was credited straight away.

the envelopes do say that you must enclose a paying in slip with your cash/chqs to ensure speedy deposit when machine emptied0 -

Your bank may do that but not all of them do. Im with the Halifax and you definately do not need a paying in slip when paying in at the cash machine, which is why the machines printers prints your details onto the envelope.
