Please help.....Advice for a holiday Virgin.

Hi Everyone.

Please could you give me some advise on my family holiday?
We are a family of 2 adults and 2 children (2y/o & 10y/o)
I have booked our first family holiday for 1 week to majorca. We used expedia and to get the cheapest filght we have to make a conection at Douseldorf Germany. We fly from Stanstead at 6.50am and arrive at Douseldorf at 9.15am our next flight to Palma is at 1145am.

So my question is: will i have to collect my bags from the 1st flight and then check them in again for the connecting flight to Palma or will the airline just put them from one Plane to the other?

Also we do not have any tickets, we have just been issued with a reference number to use at the airport, has anyone else come across this method?

My next question is regarding money. As i have said this is our first Family holiday and we have scrimped and saved for the past 8 months to save our spending money. What is the best way to get hold of it? Should i take alot of cash or traveller checks or just use the ATM machines?

Normally your bags will be checked straight thru.
Regarding money, Nationwide debit card seems to be the prefered method of getting money changed. You get pretty close to visa corporate rate (which is higher than tourist rate) and no withdrawel fees.
I personally just do it online via www.travelex.co.uk and collect the cash at airport.(Just remember to take debit card you did online transaction with as proof or they wont hand over the money)
regarding your tickets. Often a ref no is all thats required these days with online bookings.
Remember your European health card (E111) to obtain reduced or free medical treatment if reqd.
