O/S protection can go well over the top and is not required, you only need one AV protection and the knowledge of where [ MoSaEx ] to go if your in trouble. Malwarebytes ,SAS etc should only be used by newbies under one 2 one guidance because of it's influence on already installed firewalls / IP's blocking / etc.
Having multiples of one running simultaneously is bad advice and I have seen that advice given here on this board to newbies.
You can [ see the first 5 lines ] protect against most events but your computer will struggle to function efficiently in the same way that your body carrying / wearing / being restricted by /all the armour would also struggle.
Microsoft Security Essentials is, on it's own more than capable of protecting it's own Operating System, and the Money Saving Expert forum is the place to seek one 2 one if something does go wrong.

I like Onecare as it has the MyCircle central backup which automatically backs up my computers to a central external hard disk in addition to the virus protection. MSE doesn't do this. And despite what everyone says about Onecare, I've never had a virus since starting using it three years ago.
If you only ever check with oncecare how would you know if you have a virus or not?:idea:0 -
Not sure if helps but i have been using MSE since its been launched on my PC and 2 laptops and none of them have had any problems worked very well for me so for me MSE is big thumbs up, to be honest whatever you use i think 99% of the viruses are mainly down to user, i know people will disagree with me though lol.0

i agree whole heartedly, it seems those who dont know better tend to get more virus attacks. though thats not to say the rest of us never will.... remember the sasser virus? lol that hit so many people and was let through my old works mcafee mail scan because it didnt detect a threat.... woops! :P0

yes i remember lol, we will all get a virus at 1 point or another i know i did at first then you start to become more aware after you have been affected.0

MSE is pretty good for detecting threats only if you scan regularly.
I have had a couple of infections that were not picked up by the "Real Time Protection."
All in all it's easy to use, and does what it says on the tin.
It's about time Microsoft had a half decent secutity suite.
Shame on you M$ for not releasing this earlier.....To travel at the speed of light, one must first become light.....0
