Wood floor varnish

We've just sanded and varnished our floorboards and the other half said she wants it darker (it's med oak from ronseal 3 coats) could I put a coat of dark oak on top??? Thanks in advance.

    you can , whether it will look any good is a different matter
    try a bit and see what it comes up like , i would think that to get it darker you would have to give it a couple more coats

    if you put a darker coat on top it will probably end up very dark.

    as the post above says, try it on a bit that you wont see.....under a sofa or table perhaps. also, make sure it a decent size trial to get a good look at what will happen.
