Help with student grants & loans

Options
my nephew is going to Brighton in September to do a one year music course. he has been told that he's not entitled to any grants or a student loan. therefore he has to fund the 4,500 & 4,400 accommodation costs himself.

Has anyone else come across this and can anyone provide any tips on how he might overcome this slight obstacle!

thanks

This one of the BIMM courses by any chance? Give me a few course details, I'm sure I can sort something for you.

Yes, the course is BIMM, Artiste Development Diploma for 1 year initially with the option of a further two years - which he's been told he may be able to get a grant for.

    thanks

Can you provide me with a link to the exact course he's on? I've got the BIMM stuff up to check for if it's designated or not. Might be able to sort out something for you. I know some of the 1 year courses at BIMM are.

Ok, that course isn't designated I'm afraid, as it falls under a further education remit, not higher education.

Not really an expert on FE funding, so might be best to approach the college directly or hope someone here comes along.
