How do I find out the maximum size of hard drive my Compaq Presario V2418AU laptop can take? There's nothing mentioned in its manual, and nothing listed in the specs on the Compaq/HP website.
It came with a 40GB drive, and I'd like to upgrade it because it's filling up

Any reason why you don't just get an external USB one?

£50 and you'll never need to buy another one.0 -
enigma: OS is XP Home with SP3.
Lokolo: I'd like to put a bigger hard drive in so that I can set up multi booting of Windows and Linux.0 -

Assuming its IDE. I can't find on the interweb whether the laptop is IDE or SATA.0 -
This US site suggests that for the V2418AU a 160GB PATA (IDE) drive is compatible - http://www.comptick.com/cq-v20at-160.html0
