Help! We moved house approx 4 months ago. Our previous house had a BT landline that we used for phone only as we use Vodafone PAYG mobile broadband. Since we moved we haven't even bothered with a landline for calls as we use our mobiles and have great deals on them. The problem is that broadband landline has come down in price so much that it's possible (thanks to Martin) to get a great broadband landline deal for £7.50 per month. We would therefore like to give up PAYG mobile broadband as it will work out much cheaper for us. HOWEVER - it seems (I could be wrong so please help) that all the companies that offer home broadband require you to have a BT landline. In the house that we have moved to there is (which we don't use obviously) an NTL phone socket and NTL aerial (I think) socket. My question is - are there any companies that we install home broadband with our NTL sockets for a decent monthly charge?? If not, is the only answer to have a BT line instalelled?? Many thanks.

NTL is now part of the Virgin Media cable network and cable broadband is completely different from ADSL broadband carried/delivered on a standard telephone line.
You have the choice of Virgin Media (cable) or a standard telephone line and ADSL broadband.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0
